Each time when we read the above three commonly used words, it comes up a little heavy to the way we perceive accomplishing them, whether you apply them into your regular work routine or even into fitness regime. From ground level to the top, every coach or a leader would emphasise their troop on attaining it, while sounding very simple, it takes years or months to reach that level, while the loop of falling down and getting up keeps going on through the process.
But, what's the point here?
Well, we all struggle to attain each at some point or the other, sometimes losing the motivation or rhythm to continue the process or failing to stick to the plan. As a coach, being a part of others’ journey & as an individual myself looking to improve each day, it is a challenge for all of us, however the only thing that makes the process simpler is how we respond to it!
If I have to cite a few of the challenges/ obstacles that come up in the process, it could be many; from work demands to lack of support in the environment, or even overcoming injuries and medical ailments. The list will never stop, however all we need is a plan A and B or maybe more, while each one redirects you to the same end goal.
So, what's the solution?
The first and foremost thing to work upon is changing the mindset. Most of the things start from the way we perceive and how we respond rather than reacting to it.
Unlearning things and having the right intent to get aware and educated. You don’t need to be an expert right away, however, being aware does help in not falling for incorrect practises and also build right expectations.
Knowing your potential is another parameter to keep in mind, no, you don’t need to feel lesser, but acknowledging them helps in recognising the strength and weaknesses and thus having a better action plan in mind.
Time and Patience - Two of the most important things to keep in mind, while following through a process takes time, people tend to give up soon. One needs to understand that consistency and discipline is never attained in just a couple of weeks, it takes years, while you need to pick yourself up multiple times in the process and still go on.
Always remember, picking yourself up and sticking to the plan is also a progress!
Lastly, always remember to remember your “Whys” and address them from time to time, rather than superficially going through the routine, the stronger your purpose, the better the fous.
